CUSP
2024 Platform 14 Festival, Berlin, Germany

CUSP is a visceral exploration of human thresholds and tipping points. Its malleable composition allows the dancers to investigate complex emotions and sensations associated with standing on the edge of change. CUSP invites observers to empathize and reflect on their own encounters with moments of transition and uncertainty. The piece is a mix of group phrases, duets, trios and solos that showcase the variability of experiencing shifts alone versus with other people. Inspired by the deadly risk of free climbing, Donato collaborated with creative director Nastya Klychkova and Shibari rope artists Dena Zarrin and Ztella to style the dancers and shape the landscape.
